Tucked neatly away in the beautiful surrounds of the Dandenong Ranges is Trees Adventure, an exhilarating high ropes & zip lining extravaganza ranging from “easy to ‘are you insane?'”
This absolute gem is without question one of Victoria’s premier eco-adventure experiences. The park is basically one giant squirrel-esque obstacle course with 65 aerial challenges and 12 mammoth flying foxes, the longest being over 100 meters!
Whether it’s the joy one gets from watching a friend grimacing from terror, or the sense of pride one gets from challenging themselves, everyone is sure to leave this experience with a smile.
Sessions run for two hours and start from the ‘home tree’, a beautiful 150 year-old Algerian Oak where participants will be able to choose their level of difficulty ranging from:
- The Green Courses (beginners and kids, 4 metre)
- Blue and Red (young teens to adults, 12 metre)
- Black Diamond run (older teens and adults, 15 metre)
All courses will have you zipping between the trees at frightening speeds while cargo nets, rope bridges and wooden obstacles offer physical challenges high above the ground.
By far the best part of Trees Adventure is the state-of-the art safety equipment that ensures you remain attached to a safety line at all times.
While I don’t often go weak at the knees over safety equipment, the fact that the system is SO incredibly fool proof means that the safety talk is succinct and you’re free to explore the course yourself (without having to wait for a pesky guide to do your rigging). What a win!
This experience is less than 45 minutes by car or train from Melbourne, in a fabulous setting, is extremely affordable, and a must for any self-respecting adventurer.
2. If you can swing it (pun intended), a weekday visit means less traffic in both the popular Dandenongs and in the trees; and
3.Go for nearby scone afterwards; you earned it!
