Located conveniently on the beach Neptune Resort offers a wide range of accommodation and site-seeing options to meet the needs of every traveller. Far beyond this, the friendly and attentive staff lead by Yamuna Stein, really do make Neptunes feel like a home away from home.
I have been travelling throughout Sri Lanka for 1 month and, although on a tight budget, decided to opt for a couple of days of luxury before hitting the road again. From all accounts this resort is the best value for money option in the region and it has not disappointed. What took me by surprise was the service. With German/Russian/Sri Lankan management, elements of the Western world are evident whilst keeping the local cultures and traditions. For example, the restaurant waiter serves everything from the left- an unexpected touch!
Facilities include free hi-speed Wi-Fi, beach entertainment (cricket, volleyball, BBQ’s), airport transfer and round tour arrangements to local national parks, snorkelling and surfing lessons, surfboard hire, whale watching tours, wedding arrangements and special parties. The rooms are clean and spacious, some fitted with air conditioning and hot water.
In October, the restauarant will add international food to the menu and as of next year, rooms will be fit with a tv, bar fridge, interior decorations and room-service for those of us who can’t gather the energy to leave the cabana comforts after a long day on the beach.
Accommodation prices range from $30 for a basic room, to $84/94 for a double/triple cabana with a/c overlooking the ocean (if you have the money I would highly recommend this one! Especially if your with your partner). Everything in-between can be found on their website listed below.
So get those togs on, pack plenty of sunscreen and hit the beautiful South coast of Sri Lanka.
- Try the peppered steak
- Negotiate price in off-season
- Eat a cheap lunch in town and splurge on dinner at the hotel
- Surf early morning before the wind picks up
- Bring sunscreen and surf wax from home.. Local sunscreen is expensive and does not work
- Run along the beach at sunset and see what the fisherman caught for the day
